I lived in Milman Close from 1973 to 1995, Our family was the first to move into the road when most of the other houses were still incomplete. We were told that a large house had once stood on the site of the close, and while digging in the garden we found old pots, an ink bottle, a hinged brass box in the shape of a bird and lots of old bits and pieces of broken crockery. I assume the big old house that once stood on the site is one of the eight large houses you refer to. Thank you for taking the time to make and maintain the Upton site, It is very interesting.

Excellent site! I'm from Liverpool but moved to Manor Drive, Upton 10 years ago this December. It's nice to look at how the village used to be and also to learn about the history of the area. Keep up the good work! Mark

Hi great job on the website, I first visited a few years back and good to see it is still going. My parents lived in Upton (near Manor Drive) for many years, I also spent a lot of time there. Used to drink at the Eagle and Crown, had a good mate there Martin Dexter who lived in Rake Lane, untortunately he passed away some years ago. Hi to all who are still there. Keep up the good work, Gary.

I enjoyed viewing your web site expecially the toll house at the top of Saughall Massie Road. I used to take the last bus (only went as far as Upton). I would run down the middle of the road, just in case someone would jump out at me. Once past the convent wall I know I would be OK!! Lived at 15 Overchurch Road, and attended Overchurch School from 1959 to early 60's. Now live in California. Nice job on the website. I would have liked to see photos of Overchurch Orphanage and overchurch road. Thanks.

Hello. Your site is brilliant. I have been searching for some time for an old photo of the shop my Grandad used to run in Upton. It was a small general store right on the Crossing, Opposite the Eagle & Crown. Grandma used the upstairs rooms as a ladies hairdressers. I don't know what the shop was called? But in one of your photo it was Bowens cafe. Any more information and photos would be great.

Hi, I have recently moved into no. 8 West drive, Upton and was amazed to see a picture on your Website. Do you have any other photographs of the house from the past - if so I would be really interested. It is great to know something of the history of the house (and the village) so thanks again for your hard work on this thoroughly well presented website! Mike

Just found your site and have spent hours reading about people I knew years ago.My brother John and I lived in Rake Lane, our Dad was Jack Brennan,Mum worked in the greengrocers at the traffic lights, laterly Ians. Most of the family also lived in The Village, sadly there is only John, my cousin Elizabeth (Begnett) and myself left now. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers our family,so I hope I may hear from some of the Old Upton People.

I know this message is nothing to do with Upton Village BUT I am the secretary of Greasby Players who are organizing an evening on behalf of the Blind and Partially Sighted Society in Birkenhead and we are trying fairly urgently to get in touch with someone called Melody who rang us. So, if Melody from Upton, you are reading this please ring 677 9187. Thank you.

I used to live at 17 Manor Drive, until 1961. I went back a few years ago, down Memory Lane. Everything now seems so small! At least the weather's better now.

DO you know anything of the history of the last name Upton? It is my maiden name and very unusual in the U.S. I was just trying to do a little research and I came across this site.
